
The membership elects a President, President-Elect, Treasurer, and Recording Secretary for two-year terms. We established bylaws and a Board of Directors which include the officers, the standing chairs, a circuit representative from each circuit (20 circuits), one appellate representative from each District Court of Appeal, and one representative from the Supreme Court. We have standing committees which include conferences, membership, legislative/budget, education, website, and bylaws. We also have a parliamentarian and follow Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised. The Judicial Assistants involved in JAAF volunteer their valuable time and efforts for the benefit of all Judicial Assistants in the State of Florida.

Kim Dabney currently serves as President of the JAAF Executive Board. She has been a Judicial Assistant in the 5th Circuit since 2013, has served as the Circuit Representative for the Circuit for several years, and has served in numerous committees of this Association.

Beth Schatzberg, a JA for 14 years, both as County & Circuit and a member of JAAF since 2011. She has served as Circuit Representative for the 13th for 12 years, Nominating Chair 2023, Education Committee for 4 years and currently Chair and President-Elect of JAAF. She is married to Ronnie for 33 years and they have 2 adult children.

Laurie McGee currently serves as Recording Secretary of the JAAF Executive Board and has been a Judicial Assistant in the 9th Circuit since 2007. Laurie received a Bachelor Of Science Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in 2012.

Lisa Shorten has been a member of JAAF since 1992. She has served as JAAF Treasurer since 2011 and as the JAAF membership chair since 2010. Lisa has been a Judicial Assistant in the Ninth Judicial Circuit since 1991, as both a Circuit and County Judicial Assistant. Prior to being a Judicial Assistant, she worked as a trial clerk for the Orange County Clerk of Court for 4 years.

Robin R. White currently serves as Immediate Past-President (2020-2022). In 2003, she graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies. Robin has been a Judicial Assistant in the First Circuit since 2007 and currently serves as the Chair of the JAAF Conference Committee.
