Current JAAF Standing Committees and their Outlined Duties

Audit Committee:  It is the duty of this committee to meet with the Treasurer to audit the JAAF financial accounts at the close of the fiscal year and prepare a report for the business meeting.

Conference Committee:  The largest of all standing committees, the Conference Committee is responsible for organizing and facilitating the Annual Education Conference, and it is comprised of several subcommittees, i.e., Registration, Welcome Reception, Hospitality, Raffle, Dinner Banquet and Vendor.  In addition to overseeing the activities of the subcommittees, the Conference Chair is the liaison between the Association and the Hotel management staff.

Constitution and Bylaws Committee:  It is the duty of this committee to review the Constitution and Bylaws of this association and recommend changes if needed.

Education Committee:  This committee is responsible for preparing and organizing the Education Agenda for the annual Conference.  The committee confirms speakers for the event and any needed presentation equipment.  They are also responsible for obtaining speaker gifts upon the Board’s approval.  The Chair prepares an application to NALA for CLE accreditation.

Legislative Committee:  The Committee Chair acts as the liaison between the Association and the Legislative Consultant.  The role of this Committee is to provide legislative updates to the Board and Circuit Representatives for dissemination to all Judicial Assistants.

Membership Committee:  Healthy membership is critical to the mission of JAAF and the membership chair must serve as the leader to promote membership retention and growth.  This committee encourages all qualified persons to apply for and maintain membership in this Association.  Works closely with the Website committee to ensure the most up-to-date information is provided to members.  The Membership Committee Chair is responsible for receiving and processing all membership requests and shall email a receipt showing that the member is in Good Standing.

Merchandising Committee:  The purpose of this Committee is to promote the sale of JAAF merchandise before, during, and following the annual Conference.  Proceeds from sales go to the Legislative Consultant fund.

Nominating Committee:  Presides over the election of officers in accordance with Bylaws.  The election of Officers is held every two years.

Policy and Procedures Committee: The Policies and Procedures committee was formed to develop a written guide of duties and responsibilities of the JAAF Executive Board and the standing committees.  Updates to the policies and procedures are made as needed with the approval of the Executive Board. 

Website Committee:  Maintains the content, security, services, and accessibility of the website as approved by the Board; Communicates closely with other Committee Chairs to assimilate information and ideas while developing the website in accordance with the policies and procedures of JAAF.
